Tour Overview & Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival   

Meet & Greet upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport (Need flights details??), drive to Arusha for dinner and overnight stay at Arusha Planet lodge or Mount Meru Hotel.

Day 2: Arusha-Ngorongoro crater            

Will pick you up from the hotel at 7:00 am, with packed lunches and drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend into the Crater floor (19.2 km of   diameter, 610m deep, 304 sq km) spending the rest of the day exploring the crater. It is one of the world’s greatest natural spectacles, its magical setting and abundant wildlife never fail to enthrall visitors including the last remaining Black Rhino and flamingos on the Soda lake. All the “BIG FIVE”; Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo and Elephant could be spotted in this caldera. Picnic lunches will be served at the hippo pool site End of the day transfer to Nainokanoka Village campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Empakai

After breakfast, trek to Empakai Crater. Most gear, food and water will be carried by donkeys and driven by Maasai warriors or by vehicle.  You will arrive at the camp around 5 pm. Served with tea/juice/snacks etc followed by dinner and overnight at the campsite on the rim of the crater. Its (7-8 hours, 28 Km).

 Day 4: Empakai crater-Acacia    

Breakfast at 7:00 am then descend into the Empakai crater (300-350 m deep/6 km wide) in the morning, spending several hours exploring the crater. Then, you will trek from Empakai to Acacia Camp passing Naiyobi village where you will eat dinner and overnight at Acacia Camp.  (6-7 hours, 17 Km).

The flow where the lake situated is home to some flamingos, black-winged stilt, eland, bush bucks, blue monkeys, hyenas, buffalo etc

 

Day 5: Acacia-Lake Natron

After breakfast, (Sun is getting up so early) depart Acacia Camp at 7:00 am for Lake Natron,

(5 hours, 17 KM). The vehicle will meet you at the base of Mt Lengai and drive you the balance of the

day to Lake Natron for dinner and overnight at Oldonyo Lengai view campsite.

At 3:00 pm today you may tour the waterfalls and trek in the Engare Sero Gorge.

Day 6: Lake Natron-Arusha                        

You are free to explore the Lake Natron area until departure time after lunch. You will drive back to Arusha and transfer to Arusha Planet lodge or Mount Meru Hotel. for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Airport Transfer & Departure      

After breakfast, we will pick you up from the lodge and transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport to arrive in time for your homebound flight or other destinations.
